Join me on a day trip to Niš, Serbia from Sofia, Bulgaria. The day started with crossing the Bulgarian and Serbian border and almost instantly enduring a bit of culture shock. The first stop of the day was "Mediana" -- Roman ruins on the outskirts of Niš. The next stop was the Skull Tower (Ćele kula), a dark reminder of the oppressive rule of the Ottoman Empire. The last stop before spending some time in the city centre was the Red Cross Nazi Concentration Camp. The day trip ended with a brief exploration of modern-day Niš and even the perusal (and purchase) of some items from Serbia's Yugoslav past. Enjoy!
